Short Biography
I joined Sprint in 1999 after earning an MS and a PhD in Computer
Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. My thesis advisors
were Don Towsley and Jim Kurose. I hold a bachelor's degree in
Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata,
India. At Sprint, my responsibilites are to define and lead research projects, work on innovative technologies, develop and manage Sprint-funded university collaborations, publish research papers and generate intellectual property.
I am broadly interested in Internet protocols and systems, and lately,
wireless communications and services. My PhD dissertation was in
Internet multicasting. My past work at Sprint has covered a wide range
of topics pertaining to IP networks - performance monitoring, routing, traffic engineering, fault tolerance and availability. My current
work has two main directions. First, I am working on developing
systems and algorithms for continuously monitoring high-speed links,
with the goal of improving security and operational efficiency of IP
networks. Second, I am exploring how mobile devices of the near future
can benefit from the presence of multiple heterogeneous wireless
access networks.
